Thai Vs. Vietnam Kratom: What You Need To Know
As Kratom grows in popularity, there’s a lot of vague information floating around about what it is and does. Because it’s unregulated and understudied, it can be difficult to find trusted sources of information. That’s why at Kratom Country, we want to educate people to help them learn more about this natural product.
Kratom is the name of a tree found in Southeast Asia. People have been known to use this plant for centuries as many have believed that it offers several healing properties. The leaves are usually dried and then crushed into a powder, but can also be sold in capsules, paste, or tablet forms.
There are over two dozen kratom strains out there, and each one offers something slightly different. While they are all from the same region of the world, each kratom strain is different depending on which country it was grown in, including the kind of soil it was grown in, having an impact on things like its aroma. For example, the differences between Thai and Vietnam kratom are subtle but are identifiable in the potency of their aromas.
Thai kratom is named after the country it was discovered in, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you’re getting kratom from Thailand. There are red and green strains of Thai kratom, based on the color of the stem and vein of the leaf it’s made from, all available here at Kratom Country. Thai kratom, in general, is the most common kind out there and you will have no trouble finding or purchasing good quality products.
Vietnam Kratom, like its Thai counterpart, is not originally from its namesake country. Also like Thai kratom, it is characterized by leaf veins of the same three colors: red, white, and green. Compared to the others, however, Vietnam kratom is much more difficult to find on the market. This is because it is one of the highest quality strains, and supply from this region is limited. The soil from the region it’s grown in (in Indonesia, not Vietnam like its name suggests) gives it unique alkaloid properties and potency. It is also said to have a more pleasant, sweeter smell compared to others. All of these reasons drive up the U.S. demand significantly.
It’s incredibly difficult to obtain pure Vietnam kratom so what we did is create a lovely blend of three alkaloid-rich red and green strains to offer something unique and rich in aroma.
There is a huge lack of substantiated research on kratom, so it has not been approved to diagnose or treat any illnesses or ailments. If you’re considering introducing kratom into your life, you should do your own research and educate yourself as much as possible. In the end, deciding on a strain is entirely up to you and what you’re looking for.
The differences between Thai kratom and Vietnam kratom fall mainly on how it’s grown. Vietnam kratom is grown in much more desirable circumstances, which means it costs more and may be more difficult to find. Thai kratom is incredibly popular and is the one you’re most likely to encounter in most kratom shops.
